Dear high school student,
Thank you for your interest in the Indianapolis Project SEED summer research internship program. Applying to a program like ours requires time. We will accept 24 students into the program this summer. Last year we had 60 applicants, which means that we accepted 1 of every 2.5 applications. We thank you for the time you invest in this application, and whatever the outcome, we hope you will continue to advance your skills in the field of scientific research.
Important Dates & Getting Started on the Application:
1. Information Meeting. On March 16 there is a Required Student/Parent Information Meeting at the campus of IUPUI. Click here for location details - on page 2 of flyer.
2. Email - we will communicate with you by email. Since most college applications now are also processed by email, it is best if you make your own personal account. We strongly recommend Yahoo or Gmail as they are very reliable. If you do not have internet at home, please visit the nearest public library. You may also go with your parents to the IUPUI library and have a guest account made for $1 dollar.
3. Transcript. The application asks about your grades for certain classes. If your school transcripts are available online, print one off. Otherwise you may need to ask your guidance counselor for a copy of your transcript.
4. Teacher Recommendation. Identify a teacher to write your recommendation. We prefer that this be your chemistry teacher first or one of your other science teachers. Additional recommendations are welcomed but not necessary.
5. Application deadline is April 1. All application materials must be submitted online and the transcript and financial statement must be put into the mail and postmarked by April 1.
6. Acceptance Notifications. By May 1, all students will be notified if they are accepted or not.
7. June 7 - July 30. 8 week summer research internship program.
